You have a point.
Purple and Link's shots were replacing Amelia and Filia from the Slayers Try series, both of whom are girls. I wanted to preserve their poses and looks so the audience would be able to make the connection. This also had the unintentional consequence of making Zelda appear a bit unusual in her facial expressions.
